How to become a sponsor

Would you like to help the UC Santa Cruz EYH Program? We have expanded our own horizons by piloting a new program that links area middle and high school teachers and students with UCSC Graduate students and Seagate Researchers who offer Outreach Workshops (GROW) in local classrooms throughout the academic year. The 8th Annual Conference is hosted the Division of Physical & Biological Sciences' Academic Excellence (ACE) Program is on March 1, 2008.

Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conferences began over 30 years ago through the EYH Network at Mills College in Oakland, California. Conferences are now held annually at campuses throughout the United States. Studies show that the U.S. lags behind other developed nations in the production of scientists, engineers, and highly skilled technicians, and that women make up a smaller than average percentage of those educated and employed in these fields. The goal of EYH conferences is to encourage young women to study math and science by showing the benefits of such education to their lives and by stimulating their interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers.

The planning and success of the EYH Program at UC Santa Cruz depends on individual volunteers, including UCSC students, staff, and faculty and professional women from the community. Therefore, we are seeking donations to help with the expenses of our 8th Annual EYH Conference and our outreach program, GROW.

Use this sponsor form.pdf to identify how you might best contribute to this exciting and important event. As a donor, you will be helping with expenses such as meals, workshop materials, outreach and publication costs, and scholarships. All donors to Expanding Your Horizons will be recognized in the conference program The UC Santa Cruz Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations to it are tax deductible. Our tax identification number is 23-7394590. Checks should be made payable to UC Santa Cruz Foundation.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Nancy Cox-Konopelski, Director, Academic Excellence (ACE) Program
