UCSC GROW: Graduate and Seagate Researchers offer Outreach Workshops
GROW is a program created by graduate students in the physical and biological sciences at UCSC to share our scientific knowledge and enthusiasm with local Santa Cruz area schools. GROW volunteers travel to classrooms and present workshops with hands-on activities and demonstrations to foster curiosity and learning through inquiry. Funded by a grant from the EYH Expansions program, GROW seeks to connect scientific researchers with local K-12 students and teachers. A dynamic group of UCSC graduate researchers from the physical and biological sciences, as well as professionals from Seagate Technologies are eager to share their expertise with the local community. We offer classroom presentations, curricular support, and one-on-one mentorship for students. Open the educator invitation letter as a Microsoft Word document. Download a copy of the GROW flyer in pdf to advertise the program in your school. Frequently Asked Questions I'm a K-12 educator in Santa Cruz, how can I request a visit to my classroom? I'm a graduate student researcher at UCSC, how can I get involved? I have some questions, who can I contact? If you just completed a GROW presentation or hosted one at your school, please check out our post-outreach page. GROW would like to thank both the national and local UCSC branches of the non-profit organization Expanding Your Horizons. They have provided financial and logistical support for GROW.
